Finding Stillness - Knitting

My word of the year is stillness, and part of incorporating it in my life is going to be a Finding Stillness blog series. This is the first post.

I have a wild, creative mind, and finding stillness with a mind like mine is SO hard.

Sitting still when meditating only works for a while, and I have to swat thoughts away every breath. I am keeping it up, though, as I know how good it is for me.

That is because there is one thing that gets me into an instant quiet space, and that is knitting socks.

When I knit, my breathing slows down, my hands are action and my mind just drifts off into nowhere.

When I am done knitting, I have no idea how much time has passed, or how much I have actually knitted.

And that is what I love about the meditativeness of knitting, in the activity I find my stillness.
